The Anglo-Saxon writing
was born from a slightly deformation of the Latin types
used in the uncial writing of the Middle Age manuscripts
in which were joined some signs of the Runic alphabet.
A great number of texts in verse and prose were written
from the beginning of the century as main forms with the
help of the Anglo-Saxon characters representing dialects
spoken in England (The Northumbrien, The Mercian, The
Kentian and the Saxon). |
